Dedication Central to TPAS awards success
Monday 4th April, 2011
Best practice, work that has improved peoples' lives and efforts above and beyond the call of duty were celebrated at the Central TPAS Awards.
Shortlisted nominations learnt their fate at the awards ceremony at St John's Hotel in Birmingham on Friday (1 April).
The coveted Tenant of the Year and Young Tenant of the Year awards were won by Dorothy Bloor of Moorlands Housing and Molly-Jo Burnett of Derby Homes respectively.
Dorothy is a powerful advocate for her community and Moorlands Housing customers, and is at the heart of every effort to improve her neighbourhood and the services provided by her landlord. Her energy and positive attitude is exemplary, and her common sense approach has made a real and lasting difference to her community.
Molly-Jo Burnett is a true ambassador for young people. She is a member of her neighbourhood forum, secures funding for community projects, helps run a community café, delivers free computer training to adults, provides lunch clubs and activities for elderly Derby Homes tenants, and is vice chairman of a local carnival committee. Molly-Jo's positive, 'can do' attitude has a big impact on her community.
TPAS Chief Executive, Michelle Reid, said: "The standard of winners, and shortlisted nominations, continues to increase year-on-year and this has certainly been the case with the winners from the two regional award ceremonies held so far.
"The people, teams and organisations nominated are making a huge difference to their communities. I'm delighted that TPAS is able to shine a light on all this great work.
"It is really important that such excellence is recognised and celebrated nationally. I would like to congratulate everyone involved and wish the winners the best of luck at the national final in July."
